After 5 years (1989-1994 leading South Island walking tours of 20 days (each up to 20 guests) I started my niche custom tours (2-4 pax max.) in 1994. Being one of the first ‘International’ New Zealand websites, my private and personal custom tours are creating a solid turnover with up to 62% word of mouth referrals. I was involved as President of Nelson Promotions / Tourism Business Network, a member of the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and an accredited New Zealand business mentor.
While researching and travelling with (and escorting) my guests, I encounter many aspects of the tourism / hospitality industry with its changes and pitfalls as well as the other side; people’s (visitors) expectations.
